How to fix your dead ViewSat

The fixing consists of replacing the tsop.

Im sure some of you already know about this fix, but im also sure alot of other have no idea. This is the same fix VS company is going to do for you. Just buy your own tsop and do it your self. Or have someone else do it for you for alot less.

If you have no skills on soldering, I wont recommend you doing it yourself. You can mess up the board while doing this.

You need a blower "and its not for your hair" you need it for removing the tsop You also need a magnifying glass and very very fine soldering tip. The blower its not a regular blower. For example I have a atten 850A. Maybe you can find something cheaper simular to the one I have. Specially if all you are going to do is one box. In my case I need it something a little more professional because I do this all the time.

The tsop is the 48pin chip sst 39vf1601 next to the cpu and on the Ultra is a 39vf3201.

Now you get the blower and set it to 280 degrees, no higher because you can damage the Board and the tsop. Now you get your self a pair of tweezer to help you remove the chip once its hot enough. Once you have the Tsop removed, you need to remove the extra rosin left on the board. With very very fine soldering TIP. Once you have the board clean of the xtra rosin solder you are ready to put in the new tsop.

To solder the chip you need to aling all 48 pins before you start to solder. Now you are going to solder on one side only and only 2 or 3 pins. Because like that you can go back to the other side of the chip and aling another 2 or 3 pins so you can get a straight fit. Once you have 2 pins on one corner and 2 across on the opposite coner, you are ready to start soldering your new tsop. With a very fine tip you are going to touch all the pins one by one very very carefully so they dont get stuck together in the middel. This is the part thats a pain in the ass. You need very steady hands for this part of the job, you also need a magnifying glass for this.

I hope this can help you guys, If you need any other info or where to get your new and programmed tsop you can PM me. If you think you cant do this you can also PM for repairs cost.

Belive me I have fixed hundreds of dead units here in Miami for dealers and this is what they need done.

Also units that are stock on "- - - -" and you cant fix it no matter what you do. They also need the tsop replaced.

There is a chinese program that can fix some of the units stuck on the 4 dash but it won't fix all of them.

Do this at your own risk!

If you are not sure you can do it, get some one that knows to do it for you.
